Hollier families lived at Weedon, Dodford, Simpson, Fenny Stratford and Newport Pagnell. Early generations of this family cannot be fully proved, but it seems as if the line comes from Edward and Sarah Hollyard whose family was born in Weedon in the 1680s. A century and 4 generations later, Edward, born c1788 in Weedon, Northamptonshire married Ann Leeson in 1809 and several Holliers in this line use the middle name Leeson. In the 19th century, two brothers from one branch of this family moved to Morley in Yorkshire and their families are the only Holliers associated with this county, but their line had died out by 1891. Another family (Samuel and Ann) emigrated to Australia, while Edward and Mary went to New Zealand, but both families seemed to produce mainly girls, so have not passed on the Hollier name to the present day.
Some of the Hollier families from Oxfordshire also strayed across into Northants from time to time, such as those at Aynho and Chacombe.
A very early poll-tax in 1377 for Northampton included a John Holyer and his wife.
